A number of of my thoughts on staying healthy, what it has been suggestive to me before, and what it represent to me currently. What does attempting to be healthy mean to you?
Today I intend to chat about the word healthy. Or the context of attempting to be healthy. In 2020, what does the definition of healthy even mean imply?
I used to conceive that health was one process and one attempt only. I was unconsciously misinterpreted by my own preoccupation of orthorexia, anorexia and binging. I believed eating clean was the single most way. I specified foods as bad and good. I ate the same stuff every single day for years. I measured everything. I exacted owing to most of my life felt so out of regulation. I trained every single day for at least an hour. I weighed myself all the time.
For years, I accepted that all of this was healthy owing to I was athletic, ate nutritious food and worked out. How I was strangely wrong.
Reminiscing, I can see how harmful I was to both myself and my bonds with people all as I simply liked to be “healthy”. I didn’t favor myself some wisdom reason being it interfered with how I conceived I attempted live.
Not only did I have these problems, but I also criticized others for their preferences when it came to choice of nutrients and workouts. Privately, but at times in my mind. It was amiss.
Nowadays are much contrasting. My refelctions of what charachterize trying to be healthy has altered and I’m finally in this niche of composure, which I never conceived would be achievable. I’ve also grown up quite a bit, embraced compassion, practiced how to be kinder in acceptance, and loved myself harder. The last detail is notably important because training to love and care about myself brought me to love and be considerate to others. I could connect and sympathize.
I’m not sure if you’ll concede, but I believe that most of our descriptions of trying to be healthy have developed especially up the years.
Society and the media are continually catering us with endless information on how to eat, scientific data on what to shun, and how to continue the most amazing lives possible. Our fascination on being the healthiest, content humans all the time is overwhelming and can even be unfavorable to our general well-being. Every so often we forget that health has more than one context.
These are just a few representations of “staying healthy”:
• A tri-athlete has overall good health.
• One who exercises 3x a week is probable to be healthy.
• Eating dessert can be included in a balanced diet.
• Green smoothies are a wholesome, nutritious snack or breakfast.
• Engaging in yoga is a stress reducing habit of health.
There are too many black and white ideas of what attempting to be healthy implies and so I test you to consider thinking outside of what’s a norm to you. To admit others perception of what health indicates to them and the liveliness it can bring to their lives. Whether it be green smoothies or acai bowls, running followed by pizza on the weekends, early morning yoga or absorbing in time for themselves; everyone is one-of-a-kind and so is the description of health.
